Review of The Maid by Nita Prose

Molly Gray is a maid at the Regency Grand Hotel. She loves her job, the day-to-day routine and especially the cleaning where she restores rooms to perfection, but she is invisible to lots of people as she goes about tidying up their mess. However, everything changes when she finds, Mr Black, a prestigious guest dead in the penthouse suite.

When Molly finds herself in the spotlight she realises that must employ her own detective skills to discover what really happened and who did it. In searching for the true killer, Molly also finds out about her past and discovers who her true friends are.

The Regency Grand Hotel is the perfect setting for a murder mystery and there are a fantastic array of characters. The description of the hotel really brings it to life.

Molly stands out from other people due to her natural demeanour and her dedication to her job, but in some ways this and her sheltered upbringing can make her quite vulnerable. I loved Molly from the moment that we met her and the narrative was both compelling and completely addictive to read – I was quite sad to finish this book!

The Maid is unputdownable, full of twists that will keep you gripped until the very end. It’s an amazing debut novel and I really can’t wait to read more from Nita Prose.

I also thought that the green and gold cover is just beautiful!
