I am thrilled to be taking part in the blog tour for The Cactus Surgeon by Hannah Powell today.
In this early 2000s Hannah is living a hectic lifestyle in
London on a constant treadmill of going from work to parties and back to work
again. This non-stop cycle eventually led to burnout and Hannah suffered many
different symptoms while doctors diagnosed a functional neurological disorder.
Living in London was a far cry from the North Essex
countryside where she grew up and in searching for a cure, she realised that
she was desperately missing nature. As a result, she moves back and begins a
journey to recovery.
This is a fascinating book and I love that the author takes
you on a journey of her life. You learn about her childhood growing up in North
Essex on a plant nursery and the importance of her family holidays that were
always inspired by nature.
The Cactus Surgeon is a compelling and emotive book that is very
well written. I quickly became absorbed in Hannah’s life and her struggles and
really wanted to know how it all ended up. I came away feeling so positive after
reading this and would highly recommend it.
I received a copy of this book, as part of the Random Things
Book Tour.
