Review of The Heretic's Daughter by M.Lynes

I am delighted to be taking part in the Random Things blog tour for The Heretic’s Daughter today. I received a copy of this book as part of the blog tour.

It’s 1498 and Seville is a dangerous place to be, as the Inquisition is at the height of its power. Isaac and Isabel are forced to choose between their faith or family, but will they survive or become victims of the Inquisition too.

When King Ferdinand commands Isaac to investigate a plot against Torquemada, Isaac must reluctantly accept. However, Isaac is just one amongst many people who wants revenge against Torquemada. It is a dire situation that sees Isaac take a dangerous journey to Granada for if he prevents the assassination then he saves the man who killed his wife and best friend, but if he does not stop it then he will lose the King’s protection.

At the same time, Isabel is concerned about her father’s heresy and feels like he has abandoned her. When she sets out to discover the truth, she starts along a dangerous path that will take her to the darkest parts of Seville. There is discovers a shocking secret. Will it be enough to save her father and her family?

The Heretic’s Daughter is the second book in the Isaac Alvarez mystery series that is set in Seville.

It’s a gripping and fast paced read that sweeps you into fifteenth century Seville at the heart of the Spanish Inquisition.

I loved the way in which the setting of Seville is brought to life in the book complete with all of the sights, sounds and smells. You feel like you are there with the characters.

This book is a real edge of your seat read and I didn’t want to put it down. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
