Review of Sister Stardust by Jane Green

I am thrilled to be taking part in the blog tour for Sister Stardust today.

I love Jane Green’s books and jumped at the chance to read Sister Stardust.

I was fascinated that this is a re-imagining of the real life of the beautiful, but tragic Talitha Getty. The fact that the people referenced here are real people makes this book seem even more alive.

Talitha Getty appears to have the perfect life, she is a socialite living in a palace in Marrakech with the son of the richest man in the world. However, when Claire arrives from Dorset and sees this world through different eyes, she realises that Talitha is far from the happy, free soul people assume her to be. The two strike up an intense friendship and soon become inseparable.

However, soon Claire realises that there is a troubled side to Talitha and just being in her company sets off a dangerous series of events that will have implications for all of those present.

Wow, this book takes you straight back to the Swinging sixties London and then on to the romantic riads of Morocco.

I would say that there are a lot of drugs referenced in this book. I know it is in the context of the 1960s, but I was quite shocked by the amount that they took.

Overall, this is a great book. It is so beautifully written and completely addictive to read -  I read it in one day as I didn’t want to put it down.

5 stars

I received a copy of this book to review as part of the Random Things blog tour.
