Review of The Sister Returns by Joanna Rees

I am delighted to be taking part in the Random Things blog tour for The Sister Returns today. I received a copy of this book as part of the tour.

The Sister Returns is the final book in the Stitch in Time series. It’s 1929 and Vita has arrived in New York. She has escaped her past and family in Lancashire, become a dancer in London and then travelled to Paris with her best friend Nancy with the hopes of becoming a fashion designer.

Life in New York, complete with baby Bertie, seems much more sedate. However, when the Wall Street crash hits both Vita and Nancy, like so many others, are badly affected. A spur of the moment decision sees them both flee to Los Angeles where Nancy is determined to become a film star.

They get off to a good start and the new contacts they meet also see Vita making headway on her designing dreams. However, when Archie her ex, and the love of her life, is hired as a writer on Nancy’s film, Vita’s past and her family catch up with her.

Will she be able to claim what is truly hers before it is too late?

I am so sad that this series has come to an end, I particularly loved the setting of Paris, New York and Hollywood and the glamorous eras that are portrayed.

I love this series. If you are a fan of historical fiction or family saga style books then I really recommend it.
