Review of A Girls Guide to Winning the War by Annie Lyons

Today is my stop on the Random Things blog tour for A Girls Guide to Winning the War by Annie Lyons.

I read The Air Raid Book Club by Annie Lyons last year and loved it, so I was excited to read her next book.

It’s 1940 and Librarian Peggy Sparks is unexpectedly offered a job right at the heart of the war effort. She is determined to do everything she can to help and hopefully help the war come to an end as soon as possible.

What she doesn’t expect is that her boss will be socialite Lady Marigold Cecily who seems more interested in nights out dancing than in doing any actual work.

However, when accounts of her life are accidentally published by the Ministry of Information, Peggy needs Marigold’s help more than anyone if she wants to keep her job and help her brother.

I am fascinated by the mass information diaries and what life was life for people living through the war years.

I thought that this was a wonderful book with a powerful message about friendship, hope and the role that community played during WWII.

I highly recommend for historical fiction fans and look forward to reading more books by Annie Lyons.
