Today is my stop on the Random Things blog tour for Swimming to Lundy by Amanda Prowse.
Tawrie Gunn feels like she is in a bit of a rut. She has loved her whole life in the seaside town of Ilfracombe with her mum and grandmother. All three of them are grief stricken after the loss of Tawrie’s dad at sea some years before.
In need of a change, Tawrie decides to join the ‘Peacock Swimmers’ and vows to swim everyday, in all weathers, between March and September.
When she sees a man in a pink T-shirt, she feels an instant attraction, but is she ready for a relationship? As Tawrie pushes herself to do the morning swims, she begins to realise that there are other parts of her life that she needs to address. However, is she ready to face her fears or is it too late for the dreams she once had?
The story alternates between Tawrie in present day and Harriet twenty two years earlier.
I loved the setting of Ilfracombe, which is where I spent a few childhood summer holidays.
I really enjoyed reading this book and thought the characters were wonderful. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
Thank you to Random Things tours for including me. Check out the banner below to follow the other stops on the tour.
