Today is my stop on the Random Things blog tour for The Blackbirds of St Giles by Lila Cain.
In 1782, Daniel and his sister Pearl arrive in London seeking a fresh life after terrible beginnings on a Jamaican sugar plantation.
However, Daniel and Pearl do not get off to a good start when they are tricked and end up in the menacing environment of St Giles in London.
Having worked so hard for his freedom, Daniel now finds himself in the same situation under the wicked Elias. Can he truly find freedom in the land he had so much hope for?
This is a beautifully written and heartbreaking read that highlight the social injustices of the time.
The setting of eighteenth century London is vividly brought to life. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
I love this cover!
