Review of The Leviathan by Rosie Andrews

I love gothic fiction and I had The Leviathan on pre-order as soon as I heard about it.

In 1643 Thomas Treadwater is away fighting during the Civil War when a letter arrives from his sister summoning him home, due to some strange goings on since the arrival of a new maid called Chrissa Moore.

When he arrives home, he finds his father stricken by a terrible stroke and his maids are imprisoned accused of witchcraft. Despite the strange goings on, Thomas believes that there is a rational explanation to these events and begin to investigate. However, the events he soon uncovers are linked to a strange shipwreck many years ago and are so haunting and sinister he does not believe that they can possibly be true.

This is a dark and haunting novel that you will still be thinking about long after you have finished reading it.

The Leviathan is beautifully written and full of suspense. I did not want to put it down and I can’t wait to see what this author writes next.

The cover and edges of this edition of the book are amazing.
