I am so excited to be taking part in the Random Things blog
tour for When We Fell Apart. I received a copy of this book as part of the blog
tour.
When the police in Seoul inform Min that his girlfriend Yu-Jin
has taken her own life, his world falls apart and he simply can’t believe it.
On the outside Yu-Jin appeared to have the perfect life, she
was extremely clever and about to graduate from the prestigious Ewha University
and was living in Seoul – the city she had always dreamed of.
Min, who grew up in California, is determined to find out
what really happened and what secrets Yu-Jin may have been keeping from him.
What he finds out is that Yu-Jin’s life was not as perfect as it seemed. Her
father was very controlling and she had an odd relationship with her room mate
So-ra. The more he learns, the more he begins to think that he didn’t actually
know Yu-Jin that well at all.
This is a moving and heart-breaking novel that is full of
suspense. There are a lot of surprises in store for the reader as Min tries to
unravel Yu-Jin’s life leading up to her death.
I particularly like the way in which the chapters are
divided between Yu-Jin before her death and Min afterwards. It really allows
you to feel like you know both characters and to get a glimpse of their lives.
I also liked the setting of Seoul – it’s the first book I have read that is set
in this city.
When We Fell Apart is an amazing novel that will stay with
me for a long time. It is such a great debut novel and I look forward to seeing
what this author writes next.
