Review of The Hive by Scarlett Brade

I am so excited to be taking part in the Random Things blog tour for The Hive by Scarlett Brade today. I received a copy of this book as part of the tour.

Wow! The first thing I have to say about this book is that it was absolutely amazing. I read it in one sitting as I couldn’t put it down.

The book starts with Charlotte Goodwin live streaming a murder and asking people watching to vote whether her ex-boyfriend should live or die. Charlotte admits that she has killed his new partner and asks the audience to judge Lincoln.

As the followers dramatically increase, Lincoln must confess what he has done and reveal his past. Since Lincoln lives his life through social media, there is a lot that he doesn’t want to reveal, but now his life is depending on it…

It is such a dramatic opening and then the storyline jumps back to the events leading up to this. Charlotte has a very close group of girlfriends and for many years they have all stuck together and would do anything to help each other out.

I do think that this book highlighted the power that social media plays and I particularly liked the structure of the chapters, many of which had social media style entries at the end.

This is a fantastic book and Scarlett Brade is certainly an author to look out for. I can’t wait to read her next book! I highly recommend this if you are a fan of psychological thrillers.
