Review of Salamati by Hamed Allahyari with Dani Valent

I am delighted to be taking part in the Random Things blog tour for Salamati today. I received a copy of this book as part of the tour.

I have a cookbook obsession and really enjoy reading new recipes. I was fascinated by this book as I have never cooked Persian food before and was interested to learn more about it.

There are over 70 recipes in this book and it also tells you about the background of Hamed’s life. I was fascinated by Hameds journey to Australia and opening a restaurant there. I also really enjoyed learning about the background to these foods and how the recipes came about.

I tried the feta omelette, which is delicious and I can see why it is there number one breakfast item in the cafe. I also tried the kotlets (Persian burgers) and these went down a treat with all of my family. The next recipe I plan to make is the Persian Love Cake.

Salamati is a beautiful book full of amazing recipes. I loved the start of each chapter which had a two page spread filled with pictures of the upcoming recipes. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and will be trying lots more of the recipes. If you are looking for new recipes to try or if you just enjoy food writing I would highly recommend it.
