Review of The Forgotten Promise by Paula Greenlees

I am really excited to be taking part in the Random Things blog tour for The Forgotten Promise today. I received a digital copy of the book as part of the tour.

It’s Malaya in 1920 and two girls with different background make a promise to each other.

Over  twenty year later and as the world is at war, Ella is running her family tin mine with her husband Johnnie. When Malaya is invaded, she is forced to flee to England, but is forced to make an impossible choice and leave her ill daughter behind.

Thousands of miles away, Ella is desperate to be reunited with her family but had no contact with them and does not know what she will find when she can finally return.

This is a beautifully written book that will pull at your heartstrings. I really liked the way that you see both Ella and Noor's experiences, as I felt like I got to know both characters well.

I read Journey to Paradise last year and loved it and I thought The Forgotten Promise was every bit as good as Paula Greenlees’ first novel. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Highly recommended - especially for fans of historical and WWII fiction.
