Review of The Broken Afternoon by Simon Mason

Ad-PR product.

On a sunny day in Oxford, a four year old girl goes missing outside her nursery. The police assume that her father has taken her since her parents have been in a custody dispute for over a year.

DI Ray Wilkins is put in charge of the case and confirms that they have a lead, but nothing is as it seems in this dreadful incident.

Ray’s former partner Ryan Wilkins watches the press conference. He was dishonourably discharged from the police three months earlier, but still keeps in touch with his former colleagues.

When he finds himself drawn into the case, he starts to use his own talents to unofficially (and illegally) investigate. What he begins to uncover is a shocking web of crime that reaches far and wide.

Ryan longs to get his old job back, but in unofficially investigating he could jeopardise that. Can he uncover the truth and get back his career at the same time?

This is the first book that I have read by Simon Mason and I could not put it down. It is a heart wrenching read that is every parents nightmare.

I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Thank you River Run for sending me a copy to review.
