Review of Paris Requiem by Chris Lloyd

Today I am taking part in the blog tour for Paris Requiem. I received a proof copy of this book as part of the tour.

It’s September 1940 and Paris has been under Nazi Occupation for the past three months. Detective Eddie Giral doesn’t think that much can surprise him, but then he finds a murder victim who should be in prison. Eddie put him in prison and has no idea when or how he was released.

Then more criminals are let loose, but who is doing it and why?

Eddie’s investigations take him across the city from jazz clubs and visiting old haunts to further afield. All under the watchful eye of the occupiers.

Can Eddie uncover the truth or will he have to go to join the wrong side in order to find the answers?

This is a fantastic murder mystery that paints a haunting picture of what it was like to live in Paris under the Occupation.

I love books set in Paris and this did not disappoint. It is gritty and dark and brings Paris at the heart of the Second World War to life.

Highly recommended for fans of crime fiction and historical fiction.
