Today I am taking part in the blog tour for The Woolworths Girl’s Promise by Elaine Everest.

When seventeen year old Elizabeth Billington’s fiancé Charlie Sayers is killed at Ypres, she is devastated and has no one to turn to since her parents didn’t even know about the engagement. When they find out, they want to more to do with Elizabeth.

With no where else to go, Elizabeth visits the family of her fiancé and they invite her to stay. However, it is worlds away from her upper class life and Elizabeth must find a job and learn how to tackle household chores.

She gets a job at the munitions factory, but a debarring accident there leaves her looking for another job soon after.

When she spots an advert for a job at Woolworths she takes it and starts an exciting journey that will soon lead her to Ramsgate in Kent, but with a marriage prospect on the horizon can she ever really move on from Charlie.

I really enjoyed this book, I liked. The setting during the First World War and found Elizabeth to be a refreshing character who just wanted to follow her heart.

I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.
