Review of Pomegranates and Artichokes by Saghar Setareh

I am thrilled to be taking part in the Random Things blog tour for Pomegranates and Artichokes by Saghar Setareh.

This is an absolutely stunning book that is much more than a cook book- it takes you on a mouthwatering journey from the authors native Iran to Italy.

Each section and recipe tells you more about the authors life and journey and the history of some of these recipes. The beginning of each part  - Iran, In Between and Italy has a great guide to what should be in your pantry.

I tried recipes from the Italy section and plan to try many more from throughout the book.

I love how cooking and baking can evoke such nostalgia and I experienced this with this book. I made the Orange rice cake and taking a bite in the spring sunshine took me back to 2007 when I was in Florence after finishing my degree. We stayed in a little hotel near to the Duomo and every day they served a cake like this. I have never made one like this before and will definitely be making this again.

I also made a couple of drinks from the Italy section - my favourite a spritz and my husbands favourite was the negroni.

Overall this is a fascinating book and I am looking forward to trying lots more. The cover and the photography inside is beautiful.
