Summer at the Ice Cream Cafe Blogger Day

I am thrilled to be taking part in the Jo Thomas blogger day today, organised by Random Things tours.

Here is my review of Summer at the Ice Cream Cafe:

I have read all of Jo Thomas’ books and was really excited about this one.

Beca Valentino is ready for a new start and it seems like fate when the perfect house in the town where she grew up is for sale. The big house on the Pembrokeshire coast is everything Beca has dreamed of and she feels like it is exactly where she wants a fresh start. It is also ideal for the foster children she hopes to raise there.

The town where she grew up is also where her Nonno and Nonna had a gelateria called Valentinos. Even though they have passed away, Beca was under the impression that when the shop sold it would be kept as it always had been. She can’t wait to taste the gelato again, so you can imagine her shock when she finds it has been turned into a wine bar by one of her ex boyfriends!

Things quickly go downhill when two teenage boys arrive to be looked after, one of whom doesn’t seem to want to be there. Has Beca made a huge mistake?

With the help of her old friend Griff and the discovery of her grandparents gelato recipe book, Beca sets out to start making true gelato again. Will her new project work and give her the fresh start she needed?

I loved this book and felt so invested in Beca’s character.  It’s the perfect summer read and will leave you wanting a holiday beach holiday and ice cream straight away!

I particularly enjoy the way that Jo Thomas weaves food and cooking into her storyline. This is such a lovely feel good read. I highly recommend it.
