Today is our stop on the Random Things blog tour for Chemical Code by Fiona Erskine.
Jaq
Silver, explosives expert and robust explorer who works toward developing clean
energy and mining for precious metals a sustainable operation, is caught up in
a dangerous quest of her own. Her enemies have killed the son her mother
removed at birth and whom she has been searching for ever since. This quest has
taken her to the heartland of Brazil.
Connected to this, a precious box has been stolen from her which
contains the secrets of a gold mine bequeathed to her by her grandmother.
With
the help of Graca Neves, a Brazilian trainee Federal police Agent attached to
the Financial Crimes division, Jaq uncovers financial corruption, desecration
of land and human cruelty in the name of profit, beyond our comprehension.
Following
Jaq, we are catapulted into the steaming forests of Brazil, sharing her
gruelling escapes from omnipresent attempts at assassination and discovering
the greed shared by large multinationals in collusion with governments the
world over.
Will
she find what she seeks?
A
truly original storyline with plenty of action, emotion and insightful social
commentary. I found this offering from Fiona Erskine an exciting and
mesmerising read. I would recommend it highly to readers of crime, mystery and adventure!

About the Author
FIONA ERSKINE is a professional engineer based in Teesside, although her work has taken her around the globe. As a female engineer, she has often been the lone representative of her gender in board meetings, cargo ships and night-time factories, and her fiction offers a fascinating insight into this traditionally male world. She is the author of The Chemical Detective, The Chemical Reaction and The Chemical Cocktail, all published by Point Blank. The Chemical Detective was shortlisted for the Specsavers Debut Crime Novel Award and The Chemical Reaction was shortlisted for the Staunch Prize in 2020.
