Review of Fair Rosaline by Natasha Solomons

Today is my stop on the Random Things blog tour for Fair Rosaline by Natasha Solomons.

‘Before Romeo loved Juliet, he loved Fair Rosaline’.

This quote on the book was enough to convince me that this would be my kind of book and I was not disappointed. I love retellings and this book tells the story of Romeo and Juliet before they met.

Rosaline is devastated when her mother dies from the plague and after a twenty day confinement she leaves the city with her father. However, she is shocked to discover that it was her mothers wish that she be sent to a convent and begs her father to reconsider.  His compromise is that she will have twelve days of freedom before leaving.

Then she meets Romeo and the chemistry is immediate, but the clock is ticking and her twelve days are rapidly disappearing.

Was the greatest love story of all time truly a lie? Rosaline wants to tell you her side of the story.

I loved this book! The characters were so vivid and just leapt off of the page.
