Today is my stop on the blog tour for The Yorkshire Farm Girl by Diane Allen.
It’s 1938 in the Yorkshire Dales and the Fothergill family are working all hours to make ends meet on their farm.
When Bob Fothergill takes a job at a dairy it causes problems within the family, especially as young Ben does not want to work on the farm when he grows up. Teenage Sally would love to get more involved, but her father fired t think it is the right place for a girl.
However, as the year comes to a close and dawn breaks on 1939, the storm clouds of war rapidly start to gather and the future takes an uncertain turn.
Will there be happy times ahead for the Fothergill family or will war change their life forever?
This is a very touching and atmospheric read that really transports you back to the 1930s.
I would recommend it for fans of historical fiction.
My picture is not quite the rolling hills of Yorkshire, but its instead harvest time in East Anglia!
