Review of Loved and Missed by Susie Boyt

I am delighted to be taking part in the Random Things blog tour for Loved and Missed today. I received a copy of this book as part of the tour.

Ruth’s daughter Eleanor has a baby called Lily, but is so caught up in a world of drugs that Ruth takes Lily and raises her herself.

Ruth is certain that taking Lily way from Eleanor and her partner Ben is the best course of action for everyone. She is determined that Lily will still see Eleanor and wants her to be part of their life.

The book follows their lives and also has flashbacks to Ruth when she was younger and when Eleanor was a child growing up. It questions and examines love in all of its forms and looks at how boundaries can be pushed.

This is such a powerful book that I just became completely absorbed in and I felt so absorbed in the lives of Ruth, Lily, Eleanor and Jean.

Loved and Missed is beautifully written and compelling - I did not want it to end. It is not a long book, but the I literally can’t stop thinking about it and can’t wait to read more from this author.
