I am really excited to be taking part in the blog tour for the 35th Anniversary edition of Winnie and Wilbur: Winnie the Witch by Valerie Thomas and Korky Paul. Thank you to Midas PR and Oxford Children’s books for sending me a copy and this amazing pack of goodies. My daughter had lots of fun designing a birthday cake for Winnie and Wilbur!
I remember having this book as a child, so it was really special to read it to my children.
Winnie lives in a big black house with her big black cat called Wilbur. The problem is that everything in Winnie’s house is black, so if Wilbur is asleep she cannot see him and trips over all of the time.
Winnie decides that she will use a spell to make Wilbur green and then she can see him inside. It seems to work until Wilbur goes outside and can’t be seen in the grass! Winnie keeps changing him with different spells, but when Wilbur becomes very miserable she knows that she must find another solution to make sure she can always see him.
This copy is beautiful, we loved the colourful cover and at the back there are snapshots of Winnie and Wilbur’s travels together. My son was very excited to see that Winnie and Wilbur had been in Santa’s sleigh! My daughters favourite part was when Wilbur is made lots of different colours.
This is a wonderful book and such a great series.
