Review of If I Tell by Gill Perdue

Today I am taking part in the blog tour for If I Tell by Gill Perdue. I received a copy of this book as part of the tour.

Jenny is fourteen years old when she is found covered in blood and taken to hospital where she won’t speak to anyone.

Laura is the top interviewer in her team, the one who everyone trusts to tackle a difficult case. However, she is feeling different about everything since her daughter was born.

Niamh is Laura’s partner, she is loyal with a non- nonsense attitude, but she has noticed that something is affecting her mentor Laura.

As the Laura and Niamh start trying to encourage Jenny to talk, they discover that her mother and brother have been seriously injured in a car crash and her stepfather is missing. Furthermore, the blood that was all over Jenny is not hers. The clock is ticking as they try to find out what has happened to Jenny and how she ended up like this.

This is an addictive read that I couldn’t put down. It is told from the alternating perspectives of Laura, Niamh and Jenny and you get to know the back story for each character.

I particularly like the short chapters that switched between characters, as it kept me wanting to read more.

This is a brilliant, fast paced read that tackles serious issues.
