Review of The Power of Trees by Peter Wohlleben

Today is my stop on the Random Things blog tour for The Power of Trees. I received a proof copy of this book as part of the tour.

I enjoy reading non fiction books about nature and in the last year I have read a few books about trees that I found really fascinating.

Written by the ‘tree whisperer’ Peter Wohlleben, this book goes deep into the language of trees and tells us how we should be treating trees in the twenty first century.

The Power of Trees is divided into three main parts - starting with The Wisdom of Trees and looking at What happens when forestry fails in part two, the Forests of the Future in part three.

This book begins with how are changing weather patterns, especially the long dry summers are affecting trees. It goes on to look at the destruction of forests and what impact that has on us.

It also makes you think of the consequences of human action (or inaction) and what we can do to protect our surroundings.

This is a fascinating book that  I highly recommend. It shows above all how we must protect the nature that is around us for the future. The authors passion for trees really stood out and I felt completely absorbed in this book.
