Today is my stop on the Random Things blog tour for Love and Other Scams by PJ Ellis.
I have to start this review by saying wow! I sat down intending to read a couple of chapters and couldn’t put this down.
Cat is in trouble, she has just lost her last remaining thread of income, her landlords have given her notice and her friend who she hasn’t seen for years just invited her to a super expensive wedding.
Jake works in the bar where Cat often ends the night with a martini. It quickly comes to her notice that Jake is a bit of a hustler too and they both seem to have an unspoken understanding.
When Cat is asked to be a bridesmaid for Louisa, she meets her for the first time in years and notices the enormous diamond on her finger. It’s a diamond that is surely the answer to all of her problems.
With Jake as her handsome plus one, they devise a plan to switch the diamond and split the proceeds. At the end of the day, they are just business associates on another mission - how hard can it be?
I just adored this book and I loved Cat and even though she is a scammer (and a pickpocket on occasion) I really wanted things to work out for her. I also really liked Jake and felt that both of them are vulnerable in their own way.
This was an addictive read that is perfect for fans of romance and fake dating.
