Today is my stop on the Random Things blog tour for The Royal Correspondent by Alexandra Joel.
It’s the late 1950s and Blaise Hill is working her way up the ladder trying her hardest to be a journalist in Australia. She is not that impressed when she is promoted to work on the women’s pages on the fifth floor.
However, she finds she enjoys it and is thrilled when I’m 1960 she is unexpectedly asked to go to London to report on Princess Margaret’s wedding.
As Blaise gets to grips with Royal protocol and London life, she finds herself torn between past and present as events from Australia catch up with her. She also has two very different love interests, but both seem connected and Blaise must make the right choice or everything will fall apart.
As Blaise searches for the story that will make her name, she doesn't expect to become the story herself.
This book moves at a great pace and has a bit of everything I like in a good read - romance, scandal and intrigue with an added royalty element too.
I loved this book and was fascinated by the descriptions of 1960s events. I really liked Blaise and how hard working and determined to succeed she was. I also enjoyed the description of the royal wedding
This is the first book that I have read by this author, but I will be looking out for more.
