Today is my stop on the blog tour for Sepulchre Street by Martin Edwards.

Last year I read Blackstone Fell and loved it, so I was really keen to read the next Rachel Savernake book and it did not disappoint.

It’s London in the 1930s and Rachel Savernake has been invited to an exhibition by famous artist Damaris Gethin. Rachel’s friend, the journalist Jacob Flint is also present.

When Rachel arrives, she is shocked when Damaris takes her aside and asks her to investigate a murder. It’s not just any murder, it’s Damaris’ own murder which hasn’t happened yet.

Still thinking this strange request over, Rachel takes her seat and Damaris takes to the stage. The lights dim and the the unthinkable happens, Damaris seemingly kills herself on stage with a guillotine.

Why did she take her own life? It was it a murder and how did it happen in front of everyone’s eyes? Rachel is determined to uncover the truth.

There is a dark, edge of your seat atmosphere in this book and as Rachel investigates you feel like you just don’t know what is around the corner.

This is thrilling and haunting read that is perfect for fans of historical crime and detective fiction.

I absolutely love this cover!
