Review of The Grinning Throat by Kate Wiseman

Today is my stop on the Random Things blog tour for The Grinning Throat by Kate Wiseman.

The Grinning Throat is the first book in the Mudlark Mysteries series.

Orphaned siblings Joe and Edie are scraping by for a living by scavenging along the banks of the River Thames in Victorian London. It’s a hard and mainly unrewarding life, but anything is better than the workhouse.

One day they make a somewhat macabre discovery that puts events into motion that will change their lives forever.

A gold chain and a missing princess add to the mystery in this book and Victorian London, complete with all of the sights, sounds and smells, is vividly brought to life.

I was fascinated by this story of mudlarking on the banks of the Thames and thinking about what things they might gone across.

This is a middle grade book and I cannot wait to read the next instalment in this series.

Thank you to Random Things Tours for including me. Check out the banner below to follow the other stops on the tour.
