Today is my stop on the Random Things blog tour for The Fighter of Auschwitz by Erik Brouwer.
This book is the true story of Dutch boxing champion Leen Sanders who was sent to Auschwitz in 1943.
I don’t really know anything about boxing, but I became completely enthralled by this story. Beginning in the 1920s it tells how Leen rose to fame through boxing, detailing the way they travelled around Europe and the UK before the second world war and then his terrible experience in Auschwitz.
This is a heart breaking, but utterly compelling read.
I would recommend to anyone interested in World War Two and historical memoirs.
I will definitely be looking out for more books by this author.
Thank you to Random Things Tours for including me.
