Theo Jennings is a junior auctioneer in Newmarket at the Thoroughbred Sales Ring.
At the October Yearling sale, Theo makes the biggest sale for a colt who goes for much more than expected. Theo is pleased, but this is soon changed when he overhears a strange conversation that involves the winning bidder of the colt.
Then the next morning the same colt is found dead in his stable. Theo is sure that this is more than just a coincidence and sets out to investigate. However, when he raises his concerns they are brushed away and he is reprimanded for upsetting their clients.
This is a book that looks at the dark side of the racing industry and breeding. As Theo starts to investigate, he knows he is entering a dangerous arena and there are people who will do whatever it takes to stop him revealing the truth.
This was a fascinating book for me. I used to have a horse and was fascinated by the way the book looks in depth at the thoroughbred breeding industry.
I would recommend for fans of thrillers and I loved the equestrian setting.
