Today is my stop on the Random Things blog tour for Countdown to Christmas by Jo Thomas.
I am a big fan of Jo Thomas’ books and I couldn’t wait to read her latest festive novel.
Chloe is a single mum and facing the prospect of December alone when her son Ruben goes to stay with his Dad in New York. Ruben has made her an advent calendar and there is a different challenge each day to help the time go by.
When she is contacted out of the blue by an heir hunter, Chloe is sure it must be a scam and she cuts the call. However, the contact is persistent and he has details that only a family member would know. She is shocked to discover that she has been left a parcel of land in Canada by a distant cousin that she has never met.
Feeling alone, she decides to investigate and travels to Foret des Espirits to stay in a remote lodge in the middle of a snowy forest.
Assuming that she will just have a look and the sell up, Chloe is shocked to find herself falling for this beautiful landscape and one of its residents. It is certainly turning out to be a Christmas full of surprises, but will there be a new future here too.
I loved this book! I now want to book a snowy holiday and eat lots of pancakes with maple syrup (I think this might be our weekend breakfast). Jo Thomas always brings her settings to life and this was so vivid. I would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys a festive read.
