I am thrilled to be taking part in the Random Things blog tour for The Keeper of Hidden Books by Madeline Martin.

It’s Warsaw in August 1939 and Zofia watches in horror and disbelief when Warsaw is attacked by the Nazis.

Throughout her life, her two constants have always been her best friend Janina and books. As the war progresses and bombs drop around them, Zofia learns that books are also being targeted and she is determined to save as many as she can.

Together with Janina, they hide books away and start their own book club. However, soon it is Janina who is a target and she is forced into a newly formed ghetto.

As Warsaw starts to feel that liberation is on the way, Zofia turns to books to save both her friend and their way of life.

This is a beautifully written  and deeply moving book about how books have the power to bring people together even in the darkest of times.

A must read for fans of WWII fiction.
