Today is my stop on the Love Book Tours blog tour for Daughters of Warsaw by Maria Frances.

The book opens in Seattle in the present day. Lizzie has returned to her childhood home after a miscarriage. When she finds an old photograph of her great grandmother with a group of young children, she sets out to discover their story.

However, going back to Zofia’s world in Warsaw in 1942 is finding a past full of more danger and horrors of war than she could have imagined.

Zofia joins up with the resistance in Warsaw led by fearless Irene Sendler and helps to save hundreds of Jewish children from the ghetto. Their missions contribute almost nightly as they find any way possible to help children escape. However, in doing so they are puttying their life and the lives of their families at risk.

This is a heartbreaking story of bravery and courage in the darkest of times that is beautifully written. It is based on true events of women who risked everything to help children.

I would highly recommend for fans of historical and WWII fiction.
