Review of The Porcelain Moon by Janie Chang

I am really excited to be taking part in the Random Things blog tour for The Porcelain Moon by Janie Chang today.

It’s Paris in 1918 and as the Great War begins to reach its final days, a young Chinese woman called Pauline Deng flees her uncles home in Paris in order to escape from an arranged marriage in Shanghai.

Desperate to find her cousin Theo, Pauline travels to Noyelles-sur-Mer where Theo has been working as a translator for the Chinese Labour Corps.

There she meets Camille, who is planning an escape from an abusive marriage. However, soon Pauline uncovers a dangerous love affair that Camille is desperate to keep secret.

A story if forbidden love and the bed to belong set against the backdrop of the First World War.

I have read about the Chinese Labour Corps from WWI before, but not in a great amount of detail and I thought this provided a fascinating (and very sad)  backdrop to the novel.

I was so absorbed in this book. I would definitely recommend it for fans of historical fiction and will be looking out for more from this author.

I also think that this cover is stunning.

Thank you to Random Things Tours for including me. Check out the banner below to follow the other stops on the tour.
