Review of The Romanov Brides by Clare McHugh

Today is my stop on the Random Things blog tour for The Romanov Brides by Clare McHugh.

The Hesse sisters, Princesses Victoria, Ella and Alix, were granddaughters of Queen Victoria whose destinies were seemingly planned out for them. Their Grandmother wanted them to marry into the English and German royal families, but two of the sisters fall in love with the Romanovs.

In 1883, Ella defies all warnings against the union and marries Grand Duke Serge who is brother of the Tsar. It is at her wedding that youngest sister Alix meets Nicky who is heir to the throne and the two are immediately captivated by each other.

Clare McHugh has vividly brought these three sisters and the Royal Palaces to life. I was completely absorbed in this story of a bygone royal era.

I highly recommend for fans of historical fiction.
