Today is my stop on the Random Things Tours blog tour for Mary I Queen of Sorrows by Alison Weir.

The Tudors are one of my favourite eras and I am a huge fan of Alison Weir’s books and I was really excited to read this one about Mary I.

Beginning in 1525, it charts the life of Princess Mary, the only daughter of King Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon. Raised in all of the pomp and ceremony of the Tudor court, Mary is told from an early age that one day she will be Queen.

However, as her parents marriage starts to fall apart so does the only life that she has known and exiled from both the her mother and court life, she focuses on her faith.

This is such a great book and I love the way in which Alison Weir truly brings this era to life. This is a fascinating portrayal of the woman who became infamously know as Bloody Mary.

I highly recommend it.
