Today is my stop on the Random Things blog tour for The Porcelain Maker by Sarah Freethy.

When Clara travels from England to the US in 1993 to buy some porcelain figurines, it seems like a very long journey just to go to an auction. However, she feels like these are the missing piece to a puzzle that might explain who her father is.

Back in the 1930s, Bettina and Max are successful artists in Germany. However, as the Nazis sweep to power Max’s life is put in danger. When he is arrested, Bettina is determined she will do anything to find him.

Over sixty years later, Bettina’s daughter only has some porcelain figures and an old photo to help her find out what happened and who her family really are. Her discoveries take her to Dachau where she will find the secret that her mother wanted to keep hidden forever.

A powerful and very moving book. I couldn’t put this one down and would recommend for fans of historical fiction.
