Review of Banquet of Beggars by Chris Lloyd

Today I am taking part in the blog tour for Banquet of Beggars by Chris Lloyd

Last year I read Paris Requiem and thought it was a fantastic read. I have been looking forward to this authors next book and I was not disappointed.

It’s Paris in December 1940, the first winter of the occupation when people are cold and starving and grappling with rations.

Detective Eddie Giral is back and he is investigating a murder thought to be the leader of the black market.

Shocked by the strange circumstances that the body is found in, Eddie knows he must follow the trail for the sake of the city.

It is not just the everyday people who are struggling, Eddie himself is faced with (illegal) temptation.

The underworld of Paris and the occupiers seem to fighting against each other and somehow Eddie is stuck in the middle.

Eddie is such a great character and I really enjoyed being reunited with him again. This book brings Occupied Paris to life!

Highly recommended for fans of historical crime and WWII fiction.

5 stars
