Review of The Poet by Louisa Reid

I am delighted to be taking part in the Random Things blog tour for The Poet today. I received a copy of this book as part of the blog tour.

The Poet is a book written in verse that follows Emma who is in a relationship with her older professor.

Tom comes across as charming and is loved by his students and colleagues alike, but behind the scenes, he is controlling and  their relationship is toxic and addictive at the same time.

The Poet is the tale of Emma and Tom’s relationship and over the course of the book you see how the characters change and begin to show their true colours.

This is a beautifully written book, set against the backdrop of Oxford academia, that explores important issues including controlling relationships, class and privilege.

I hadn’t been sure how I would find a novel written in verse, but I actually really enjoyed it and found it very easy to read.

I love this cover.
